Woodcare
Wood care is all about how to maintain your furniture
All furniture will mark if not protected from hot items and spillage.
There are five finishes in pine and oak furniture:
1. Bare wood - untreated
2. Wax
3. Laquered
4. Oiled
5. Painted
Maintenance
1. Bare wood
Wipe down with dry cloth. Remove any stains by sanding.
2. Wax
Waxed furniture can be revitalised by rewaxing every 6-12 months using Briwax clear, antique, brown or rustic. Light stains can be removed by cleaning surfaces using grade 0000 wire wool over complete area, wipe clean using a soft dry cloth and rewax with appropriate colour. More severe damage would require professional advice - please telephone us to discuss.
3. Laquered
Laquer finish comes in three finishes, matt, satin and gloss.
Laquer is a hard finish and will withstand spillages if removed immediately with a dry cloth. Any damage to laquered surfaces would need professional repair.
4. Oiled
Oiled surfaces should be re-oiled at 6 monthly intervals using the appropriate oil which can be purchased from us. Any marks would require professional advice. We can supply the oil for this furniture.
5. Painted
Any marks on painted surfaces should be removed using a damp cloth. Do not use any solvents to remove stubborn marks. Seek professional advice for damaged paintwork.
